Thanksgiving is next week and Luxury Home Solutions (LHS) is thankful for the community in Southwest Florida. Norman Bloxham, the owner of LHS, has enjoyed working with the community and local businesses building over 1,000 dream homes for Southwest Floridians and are happy and appreciative of these and future opportunities. As Thanksgiving approaches LHS wanted to provide some great design and hosting tips for you and your family to help you through this busy and happy holiday.
Make a Great First Impression!
Someone is always chosen to host at their home for thanksgiving, if this is you this year, you will have lots of family and friends coming over, so impress them as they enter your home. Choose colorful decorations for your entry like; fall leaves and branches in a vase to make a statement or stencil ‘Gives Thanks’ and ‘I’m thankful for you’ onto pumpkins as a nice greeting.
Create a Warm Atmosphere!
We live in sunny and warm Southwest Florida so we don’t need to keep our family and friends hot with a roaring fireplace instead use décor to set a warm comfortable atmosphere. Candles are a great way to create a cozy setting. Also, a current trend is copper accents like place settings, candle holders, silverware, and fall decor trinkets which all generate a warm comfy atmosphere. You can also stick with the classic thanksgiving décor like miniature pumpkins, warm colors, leaves, and cornucopias to keep the mood and theme flowing throughout your home.
Let Everyone Show they are Thankful!
Create a Thanksgiving themed message board and cut leaves out of construction paper, then let your guests write what they are thankful for on a leaf and tack it to the board. This is a good way to get people to think about what they appreciate and to create a live happy atmosphere. There are many different variations of this on the internet from a message board to a thankful tree where they hang the leaves or use mini pumpkins that guests can write on and pile into a cornucopia. You can also buy packing paper parchment and cut them into placemats and write on each one ‘What are you thankful for?’ then just let your guest write their thanks on them. Get creative and remember to have fun with your thankful message boards.
Keep Your Guest Entertained!
If you have a lot of guests or a couple people playing games can keep them entertained until the turkey is ready. You can go with classics like Charades and Pictionary but give it a Thanksgiving theme. Furthermore, play traditional board games and simply switch out the game piece for fall items. You can also go with the classic game the construction industry prefers, giant Jenga by cutting a 2×4 into same size pieces and stacking them. Playing games will keep guest busy until the food is done and after additional, it brings everyone together on a day we are all showing gratitude.
