How long has the company been in business?
We began business in October 2010 as Luxury Home Solutions; however, the owner (Norman R. Bloxham) has been in the construction industry in Lee and Collier counties for 34 years. Norm formerly owned Gulf Coast Homes and Bloxham Homes, Inc. where he successfully completed over 1,000 custom homes.
How long do you estimate my remodeling or luxury home building project to take?
Each project is unique and special, just like you. LHS is committed to understanding your design and remodeling or home building needs and developing a plan to accomplish your goals in the most cost effective and timely manner possible. Without knowing the complete scope of your project, these are some scenarios to consider: Cabinets take 6 weeks from the date of order. If it takes 4 – 6 weeks to decide on a layout and color, then the project could take up to 12 weeks. The cabinet layout is a major decision and should be decided early. Countertops can take 7 – 10 days after the cabinets are installed. Backsplash tile installation comes after the countertops. Faucets can also cause delays. Certain finishes are not always in stock. Tile imported from Italy will cause delays. We are here to make your project everything you dreamed it can be, but our schedule is based on your desires – we only want to do what you want us to do. If you’d prefer to take your time with selecting finishes or choose exotic finishes and Italian marble from a village in Tuscany – we can do it, and will wait for their arrival. However, if you want the project completed more quickly, we will guide you in ways that work better, and keep the remodeling or building job on schedule and budget.
How do you handle complaints?
We believe so strongly in building relationships with our clients that we make every effort to deal with any problems up front and clearly address them as soon as possible. We have several different Project Managers on staff so that personality conflicts should never be an issue. Our goal is always complete customer satisfaction so that a customer never progresses to the “unhappy” stage that would warrant a complaint. Challenges often arise in building and remodeling projects. It is how we deal with them that sets LHS apart and allows us to create relationships for life.
How do you plan to keep me informed/involved in the project since I will not be local?
We have extensive experience serving clients that are not in Southwest Florida during the remodeling or building process. In fact, most of our clients are away during our remodels. This is why we put so much emphasis on our proven processes that emphasize proactive communication and quality control. We utilize multi-platform project management software that keeps you up-to-date through pictures and daily updates – and all from your smart phone or desktop computer!
How do you handle noise and disruption to neighbors in condos?
All remodeling work in condos, especially in Naples, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Gulf Harbour and Downtown Fort Myers, is sensitive and subject to the rules and regulations of the individual condo associations. We will need to know their specific guidelines. These guidelines will be established in the pre-construction meeting – before any work begins – with all subcontractors and employees present and will be closely monitored by your Project and Construction Manager. We will do all that we can to minimize disruptions to the neighbors and will be in communication with them so they can contact us directly if a problem arises. We have been installing kitchens and baths in condos and town homes in Fort Myers, Naples and all of Southwest Florida for many years, so we understand the needs for safety and consideration in these kinds of projects.
What are the clean-up activities? How do you handle disposal of removed materials and appliances?
As a licensed and insured General Contractor, we’re well versed in keeping your home clean and safe at all times during a remodeling or new construction project. We clean up the job site every day. We also have a trailer that we use to haul away building materials for condos or when restricted by home owner’s associations. Appliances will be donated to charity, recycled, or disposed of as you direct. Our full-time employees and trusted trade partners are fully qualified to dispose of materials according to local building regulations in Lee and Collier Counties.
Are you a licensed and insured contractor? And, what does that mean?
Yes, we have a State Certified General Contractor’s license for the state of Florida. That means we are licensed to build new construction, perform complicated remodels and renovations, and repair and maintain your home. It also means we will use licensed mechanical contractors to perform any work we are not specifically licensed to do. We are also fully covered with worker’s compensation and general liability insurance. If you allow workers into your home without this coverage, your homeowner’s insurance is responsible if they are injured while performing work on your home. When you work with Luxury Home Solution, you have the peace-of-mind of knowing you are working with a licensed and insured contractor.
